Martin Kersh is Executive Director of The Foodservice Packaging Association representing the manufacturers, distributors and users of single use packaging used to serve and prepare food and drink away from home. With 200 company members the FPA is at the forefront of environmental and legislative developments impacting on the foodservice packaging industry and provides an effective lobby for its members who work closely with foodservice, quick service restaurants and catering operators to develop foodservice packaging that continues to achieve improved levels of safety, product performance and environmental & resource efficiency using a number of materials. The FPA has been at the forefront of the UK packaging industry’s response to the controversy surrounding the recycling of paper cups, working closely with Government and getting agreement to a Paper Cups Recycling Manifesto. Martin helped form the UK Government’s Litter Strategy Advisory Group, is a member of the Steering Group for Hospitality & Food Service Agreement seeking to reduce food waste, attends the All Party Parliamentary Group for Packaging and is active liaising with Government on a wide range of issues including litter and packaging recovery and recycling. Martin began his serious working life at international advertising agency McCann-Erickson followed by DMB&B, spending 15 years in advertising before establishing his own Market Research consultancy with projects undertaken for a range of FMCG and business to business organisations. Has great belief in the strength of the UK packaging industry and its contribution to the UK economy and the public.
